Shilling & Fitz are one of the only remaining Military tailors in Scotland for made-to-measure Piper's tunics.
In June 1984, the re-introduction of the Atholl Gathering was held at Blair Castle with over 3000 people attending. The tossing of cabers, hammer throwing and other feats typical of Highland games still continues as an annual event at the Castle on the Sunday after the Atholl Highlanders parade on the Saturday typically the last weekend in May. We make tunics for the Lonach Highlanders and also supply The Irish Defence Force Pipe Band with the infamous 'Saffron' coloured Kilts, Braths and Flashes along with their smart green tunics and capes.
We also make Piper's tunics for those who pipe professionally for a living. Each Piper has their own individual pattern drafted to their specific measurements, the cloth is cut by our highly skilled cutters and then sewn by our experienced tailors. We use the finest Meltons, Doeskins and Baratheas from AW Hainsworth who have been weaving the finest cloths for Military uniforms since 1783.
We make tunics for professional Pipers all over the world including the US, Canada and Australia. Using our self-measure forms, photos and video calls, we can determine anything in your body shape and stance we may have to consider and make adjustments for when drafting your pattern and constructing your tunic.
